The weekend in review II / Always loved Elvis

Ah, it’s a pleasure to be back. I intended to update yesterday but I must have become distracted and it was late last night before I realised that I hadn’t posted.

My wife’s aunt was over for the weekend and it was very enjoyable. A couple of particular highlights were visiting the German Christmas market on Friday night followed by the Whisky Society (much drunkness) and a Saturday night visit to Mary Kings Close, a haunted, spooky underground series of abandoned streets in Edinburgh. Well worth a visit if you are ever visiting this beautiful city.

Saturday afternoon had actually been spent at Tynecastle watching Hearts pump Motherwell 4-1. All was rosy in the garden until they announced the departure of club captain Stephen Pressley an hour or so after the match. The way the club (for club read Vladimir Romanov) has treated Elvis is ridiculous. The man is a true Hearts legend and the club is in his blood. That man was maroon through and though and for him to have to leave Hearts in such circumstances must have hurt him to the core.

When the big book on Hearts is eventually written, Vladimir Romanov will barely rate a mention but there will be a chapter in there extolling the virtues of Stephen Pressley. So long Elvis and thanks for all the memories. This particular Jambo will not forget you in a hurry.

And that folks, is all I have time for…….
