Well, TV took me back to my youth last night. To when I was 15 to be precise. 1986. Grange Hill.
Justin Lee Collins programme on Channel 4 - “Bring Back Grange Hill” - was a real trip down memory lane. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I am not yet as fat as Lee “Zammo McGuire” MacDonald, who is currently working as a locksmith (and apparently part time pie taster).
Erkan Mustafa (Ro-land Browning) is still a portly gent as well but then he always was. The general impression of him is of a very successful TV writer which is nice to see. At least he didn’t end up in Eastenders playing a random Fowler family member.
The best was saved till last though when they shipped in all of the Grange Hill monkeys who were obviously so desperate for work that Justin Lee Collins had no need to chase them round the streets of London and then beg them to appear, among them ‘Banksy’, and ‘Gripper Stebson’.
Most enjoyable and made me glad I wasn’t a famous childhood actor.
