Sad to say, but the Nationalists won the election. Will the last person to leave Scotland please turn out the lights. On the bright side, they don’t have a majority and none of the other parties will form a coalition with them so it’s still a bit up in the air at the moment. Here’s hoping they have to rule as a minority administration.
Yesterday was spent visiting Stirling Castle. A windy, freezing day but a spectacular castle. A bit like a mini Edinburgh Castle. The great hall was fantastic as was the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders regimental museum. All in all, worth a visit if you are ever in the area. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to visit the Wallace Monument.
We did however visit the scene of the Battle of Bannockburn and get a good look at the memorial to Robert The Bruce. Given my opposition to Nationalism, you’re probably wondering why I visited all of these important icons of the Scottish national struggle.
Well, can I not be a patriot without being a nationalist? I’ll answer that question for you. Yes.
