So, on Tuesday I went to see the Marillion show at the ABC in Glasgow. Great show as usual with the boys on top form. Steve Hogarth never seems to run short of energy and the band are looking brighter than they ever have. They seem to be enjoying this tour so much and it’s always great to see a band at the top of their game.
Here’s a great shot from the gig of Steve during the song ‘Neverland’ (courtesy of Mark Kennedy).
The evening was made all the more interesting by the presence in the audience of Fish, Marillions (very) former singer (left in 1988). Good to see that old hatchets have been buried and each can support the other going forward. Always a big presence, Fish’s appearance was causing a bit of a stir amongst the old school fans until himself, Steve Vantsis and Frank Usher moved upstairs to view the gig from the balcony.
I didn’t post yesterday as I was so bloody tired. Lack of sleep gets to you after a while. For some reason I am shattered all day but when it comes to time to go to bed, I get a second wind. Last night for instance, having returned from visiting my grandmother until 9pm, I decided to make a curry. Good for the tastebuds but terrible for anything resembling getting to bed early. We sat down with the curry and watched Big Brother, the mundanity of which has surpassed all expectation.
This weekend sees us leave for Ireland for a weeks holiday so I don’t expect to be posting much after tomorrow. It will be good to relax for a while without worrying about work and the ongoing renovation of our house (which is gathering pace with our impending new arrival). Tramore on the south coast of Ireland is always somewhat of a haven for us. Somewhere to completely unwind, eat fish and chips and play slot machines in the old fashioned penny arcades. The only non-relaxing aspect this year is that we are driving and not flying. With ‘the bump’ greatly interfering with my wifes comfort, most of the driving will depend on me. At least the ferry will break up the journey.
