In Absentia

I am aware that it’s been a few days since I last posted. I’ve been very busy with a number of things, not least of which was visiting London to see Metallica at Wembley. What an amazing stadium. Quite simply a superb construction. Made even better of course by 60,000 fans singing the na na na na bit of ‘The Memory Remains’.

London was as grubby, sweaty and as intermittently pleasant/unpleasant as it always is. As much as I love the buzz of the place, I was relieved to get back to Edinburgh. Maybe I’m getting old, I don’t know. A few years ago I’d have been able to put up with all of the inconveniences of a huge city because I would be out enjoying it’s more vibrant side. Now though, I just can’t be doing with it.

It’s funny. I could never previously understand why anyone would want to live outside of a city. The convenience of having everything on your doorstep was the be all and end all as far as I was concerned. Not these days. A quiet life and a nice cup of tea please. You can keep your metropolis.

Glad you had a good time at the show! I’d rather live outside of a city than inside of it as well, to live out somewhere quiet but not have to travel far for excitement. That’s my ideal place of living, at least.
