Tick Tock Tick

Time is ticking. The baby is due in under two weeks and all manner of last minute tasks are being undertaken. I’m also working on a client site which will hopefully generate some much needed cash now that we are (technically at least) a one income family for the time being. It’s crazy to think that in less than 2 weeks I could be a dad. It’s a responsibility that is with you for life.

Even now I’ve started to see the world through slightly different eyes as a result. The death of rally driver Colin McRae the other day in a helicopter crash caught all the headlines in this country and possibly the world over. His 5 year old son also died in the crash. In the past, I would have viewed the death of a child as an absolute tragedy but I’ve never been able to relate it to my own situation. Now I can and the horror of the death of a child seems more acute to me because of it.

A changing table was built last night so all set for changing dirty nappies and a small rocking cot was built at the start of the week. With the buggy being collected last weekend, we are pretty much all the way there on the essentials.
