At my first office job in the late eighties a young Russian bloke started as a temp. Think he was called Sergei.
First day on the job he looked quite normal - half mast trousers, shirt and tie.
Second day however, Mr Moscow had been shopping.
An electric blue corduroy 'tin flute' was his purchase. It was a tin flute so loud you could hear actually hear it whistle as he walked.
Apparently the young Muscovite thought that this was the height of fashion in the capitalist west...

I have a photograph of my little brother wearing corduroy shoes. True story. Maybe I could try to make a whole blog post out of it! (PS Send ham sarnies up to Liberton, would you? Kinda peckish up here.)

It's always interesting to read lists like this and to be reminded how many famous people there are whom I have never heard of! This time I make it 8.

Yes, Oliver Hardy could sing. Another from that same era, more or less, who reportedly had a very pleasant light baritone, was Fatty Arbuckle; the one who was falsely accused of rape and never worked again even after he was proved to be totally blameless. He never recorded, so alas we shall never hear his singing voice.

Hmmm. Personal choice thing. I'm generally not a huge fan of female vocalists to be honest. I'm not entirely sure why.
